When the room is quiet ยท we're still here
Student-athletes live two lives.
The first one is public. It has a jersey, a number, a position, a team. It's the life that fits on a recruiting page and ends up in box scores.
The second one is private. It's the identity outside the sport. The injury that won't heal. The major no one in the locker room cares about. The thing you're carrying that no one knows about. The fact that the sport you've played since you were eight isn't going to be the thing you do after May.
Teammates know the first life. Almost no one in the building knows the second.
No Jersey Required creates spaces where college athletes meet each other as people first, athletes second.
Cross-team. Cross-sport. Peer-led โ no coaches in the room and no staff in the room. The format is simple. The depth comes from the people who, when paired with someone outside their team, find themselves sharing things they wouldn't with a teammate.
We are partners to athletic departments, not contractors. We complement existing wellness programming. The conversations that happen in our rooms are the ones that don't happen anywhere else.
“I have made multiple friends with athletes I otherwise would not have met. Cavalier Conversations has definitely elevated my student-athlete experience.” UVA student-athlete
Sixty student-athletes came through the door at our UVA founding chapter. Many have told us, unprompted, that it changed how they experienced college — that they made friends with athletes they would never have met otherwise.
We're launching chapters across the ACC starting in the 2026โ27 academic year. If you're a student-athlete who wants to lead a chapter, an athletic department interested in being one of the first, or someone who wants to support the work โ we want to hear from you.
